What the unit is about
The aim of this unit is to develop students’ awareness of the different types of strategic approaches that could be used in an operational, tactical or strategic role for an organisation. This will be underpinned by a thorough knowledge and understanding of the theories, models and concepts that could significantly support an organisation’s strategic choice and direction.
On successful completion of this unit, students will have developed sufficient knowledge and understanding of strategy to make a positive, efficient and effective contribution to the development of business plans and operational direction.
By the end of this unit a student will be able to:
• LO1 Analyse the impact and influence that the macro environment has on an organisation and its business strategies
• LO2 Assess an organisation’s internal environment and capabilities
• LO3 Apply the outcomes of an analysis, using an appropriate strategic management tool, in a given market sector
• LO4 Develop a strategic management plan in an organisation, informed by models, theories and concepts, to achieve competitive advantage in a given market
• sector.
The target audience
This unit is part of the Bachelor’s program. So, the target audience are full-time students aged 18 to 23 with a practical business focus. These students are in the second year. In part-time students are in the age of 18 and older.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for a lecturer who can contribute the necessary practical experience to inspire our full-time students.
The unit is in English. It is therefore necessary that you have a good command of English.
The planning
In the part-time planning the unit starts at 11 September 2025, 4 days (Thursdays). The fifth day are the exams end orals. Lecture times 13.30-20.50.
The unit will start in the full-time programme on Thursday 11 December and will continue until Thursday 5 March 2025. The final presentations will be at 19 March. Lecture times 09.00-16.20. 10 day’s in total.
College building: The Hague.
What we can offer
We pay € 67.50- per hour, free of VAT. A lecture day consists of 6 lecture hours of 60 minutes. This means € 405. - per day. Rate includes preparation and marking of day tests and (re) exams, oral administration, supervision and marking of assignments. So, 15 days, a total of € 6,075. –
There is also a € 0.23 km allowance per km and a parking or public transport allowance.
