This unit is part of the first-year bachelors’ programme.
What the unit is about
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to assist senior colleagues in producing and analysing budgets, drawing up simple financial statements and using financial ratios to interpret performance. Students will also explore wider aspects of accountancy, especially ethics, transparency and sustainability, and gain fundamental knowledge and skills that will enable them to progress to a higher level of study
By the end of this unit a student will be able to:
LO1 Examine the context and purpose of accounting
LO2 Prepare basic financial statements for unincorporated and small business organisations in accordance with accounting principles, conventions and standards
LO3 Interpret financial statements
LO4 Prepare budgets for planning, control and decision-making using spreadsheets.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for a lecturer who can contribute the necessary practical experience to inspire our full-time students (aged 18 to 24).
The unit is in English. It is therefore necessary that you have a good command of English.
Your educational background is at university level.
The planning
The unit will start in the part-time programme on Tuesday 13 January 2026 and will continue on until 03 February 2026. Final presentations on Thursday 26 February 2026. Lecture times 13.30-20.50.

What we can offer
We pay € 67.50 per hour, free of VAT. A lecture day consists of 6 lecture hours of 60 minutes. This means € 405. - per day. Rate includes preparation and marking of day tests and (re) exams, oral administration, supervision and marking of assignments. So, 5 days, a total of € 2,025. –
There is also a € 0.23 km allowance per km and a parking or public transport allowance.
