Job Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Resident Engineer to join their team in Groningen, Netherlands for a large-scale data centre project. Our client is a leading consultancy firm, specializing in the design and development of data centre electrical infrastructure. Their team of skilled professionals ensures the integration of cutting-edge technologies, sustainable practices and secure systems to meet the growing demands of the digital world. Committed to delivering tailored solutions, they help clients achieve maximum uptime, energy efficiency and scalability in their data centre operations.
You will act as the key Resident Engineer, providing expertise in electrical engineering and problem-solving to ensure smooth project execution for the data centre facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Quality Assurance:
? Monitor and supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of residential electrical systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulations.
? Review technical drawings, specifications and submittals to ensure alignment with electrical engineering designs.
? Conduct regular site inspections to assess work progress, identify issues and enforce quality control measures.
? Reporting daily/weekly on multiple platforms for general contractors and the client's records.
? Ensure electrical systems, such as wiring, lighting, power distribution, grounding and fire alarm systems are installed correctly and meet operational and safety requirements.
? Oversee critical electrical systems in data centre projects, including:
? Medium-voltage power distribution
? Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
? Generator backup and automatic transfer switches (ATS)?
Power distribution units (PDUs)?
Battery storage and energy efficiency solutions
? Busbar trunking systems
? Data cabling and structured network infrastructure
? Lightning protection and grounding systems
? Fire detection and suppression electrical integration
? Building Management System (BMS) and Power Management System (PMS)
Coordination & Communication:
? Act as the primary on-site representative for electrical engineering matters, liaising between contractors, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
? Attend progress meetings, provide updates on project timelines and highlight potential risks or delays.
? Work closely with mechanical engineers, structural engineers and project managers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other building disciplines.
Compliance & Documentation:
? Ensure all electrical installations comply with local building codes, industry standards and best practices for residential and data centre projects.
? Maintain accurate documentationtion of electrical works, including red-line markups, punch lists and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
? Assist in preparing as-built drawings, operating manuals and maintenance schedules for handover to the client.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover:
? Oversee commissioning activities for residential and data centre electrical systems, ensuring functionality, efficiency and reliability.
? Work with third-party testing agencies to conduct performance evaluations and validate system integrity.
? Facilitate the handover process, ensuring clients receive proper training and documentation for electrical systems.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
? Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring all electrical work is performed safely.
? Identify potential hazards, implement corrective actions and promote a culture of safety on-site.
? Ensure proper handling and disposal of electrical materials in compliance with environmental regulations.

Requirements:
? Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or strong trade qualifications.
? Minimum 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering within residential environments (multi-unit developments, private housing or similar infrastructure projects) and data centre projects.
? Strong knowledge of residential power distribution, lighting design, home automation and fire alarm systems.
? Experience in managing subcontractors and coordinating electrical installations.
? Familiarity with industry standards such as NEC, IEC and local building codes.
? Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and technical drawings.
? Proficiency in English (both verbal and written) is required.
? Ability to travel as required for project needs.
? You will be responsible for arranging your own travel and accommodation.
? Must be eligible to work in The Netherlands.
Preferred Experience:
? Professional accreditation (e.g. Chartered Engineer, PE, CEng or equivalent).
? Experience with smart home systems and energy-efficient solutions.
? Certification in electrical inspection, testing or commissioning.
? Knowledge of renewable energy solutions (solar PV, battery storage, EV charging stations).
? Experience in critical power infrastructure for data centres, including redundancy and failover strategies.
Skills & Competencies:
? Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
? Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
? Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar tools.
? Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
