My design story started at a young age, where I used to create worlds and miniature models from shoeboxes.

I wanted to become an inventor and create many things!

During my study in 1999 I started working as a footwear designer.

At that time I served various brands and customers for the international private label industry.

While travelling in Asia and Europe, I enjoyed doing material sourcing, the communication with sales, suppliers, development and encountered the challenges that the design process brings, to make the best products possible. 

With my design studio Basu Design I proceeded my journey with freelance projects for the footwear and fashion industry.

I am specialized in sneakers and sports related footwear like: 'outdoor, hiking and sandals, but I am also experienced in casual footwear, rainboots, indoor slippers and graphic design for sports apparel'.

Next to my work as a commercial footwear designer I work on special design and art projects. With 'Footwear Stories' I make and remake shoes from special materials like old furniture and create designs for special occasions or requests.
